犬の十戒
犬好きの方ならご存知の方も
沢山いらっしゃいますが
室内犬を
飼う前に読んでもらいたい
犬の十戒です。
何回読み返しても涙がでます。
最初に本文（英語）でその次に私の
意訳が入ります。
1. My life is likely to last ten to fifteen years.
Any separation from you will painful for me.
Remember that before you buy me.
訳①私の人生はせいぜい
１０年から１５年くらいです。
私を飼いはじめる前によく
考えてください。
私はあなたとひと時でも離れることは
とても辛いのです。
2. Give me time to understand
what you want of me
訳②私があなたを理解するのに
ほんの少しだけ時間をください。
3. Place your trust in me- it's crucial to
my Well-being.
訳③どうか私を信じてください。
それが私の幸せです。
4. Don't be angry at me for long and don't lock
me up as punishment.
You have your work your entertainment a
nd your friends.
I have only you.
どうかそんなに怒らないでください。
またこらしめのために
閉じ込めたりもしないでください。
あなたには沢山の
楽しい出来事があり
沢山の友人がいることでしょう。
わたしにはあなただけなのです。
5. Talk to me sometimes.
Even if I don't understand your words,
I understand your voice
when it's speaking to me.
たまには話しかけてください。
たとえあなたの話している
ことがわからなくても
あなたが私に話し
かけている声だけで
あなたのいいたいこと
はわかります。
6. Be aware that however you treat me,
I'll never forget it.
あなたが私とどのように接しても私はけっして
あなたをわすれません。
7. Remember before you hit me
that l have teethhat could
easily crushthe bones of your hand
but that I choose not to bite you.
私をたたく前に思い出してください。
私にはあなたを傷つけることのできる
牙がありますが決してそれを使わない
ことを。。
8. Before you scold me for being
uncooperative obstinate or lazy,
ask yourself if something might be b
othering me.
Perhaps I'm not getting the right food
or I've been out in the sun too long
or my heart is getting
old and weak.
私がいうことを聞かなかったり怠けて
いるように見えることで私を叱る前に何か
原因がないか考えてください。
もしかしたら食あたりをしているの
かもしれませんし
日光に当たりすぎで疲れているの
かもしれません。
また私の心臓は年とともに
老いてよわっているのです。
9. Take care of me when I get old ;
you, too, will grow old
私が年をとってもどうか面倒を見てください。
あなたと同じで私も年をとるのです。
10. Go with me on difficult journeys.
Never say, "I can't bear to watch it ." or "
Let it happen in my absence."
Everything is easier for me if you are there.
Remember I love you.
最期のお別れの際はどうか
私のそばにいてください。
かわいそうで耐えられないとか
最期を見ないようにするなど
はしないでください。
私にとってはあなたと少しでも
いられれば死すら
決して怖くありません。
そして、どうか忘れないで。
私がいつまでも
あなたを愛していることを。
